  1. RCMS Incorporated Business Interdisciplinary Unit February 19 – March 8

  2. Bill LeeOwner, Extreme Balloon Rides Mr. Bill Lee discussed the importance of having a product that the community will need. He focused on his own business of Extreme Balloon Rides. The students responded well by asking question on different types of products out there. In fact, we had on group change their product because they felt that there was not a clear market out there.

  3. John McMullinCFO, T&R Pawn and Market Mr. McMullin came to the class and discussed the meaning of team work and management. He talked about being a good supervisor to employees because every business wants to have great customer service. Many groups came away with a different outlook about team unity and team building. Although some groups did not always have the best working environment, they did remember some of the team building exercises Mr. McMullin talked about in the lecture.

  4. Brian and Katy LongBusiness Owners, Fartelli’s Bistro Brian and Katy Long both talked about team work and product design, mainly products that focused on food. Brian and Katy both own the local establishment Fartelli restaurant. They both opened up the discussion with product ideas. Katy Long gave some insight on great customer service, focusing on the customer is always right. At the end of the discussion, the students came away with a better understanding of how to treat customers and employees.

  5. Mr. Fred WhiteFinancial Advisor, Navajo Nation Mr. Fred White came to encourage the students on the necessity of meeting deadlines and customer service. Coming from the Navajo Nation, Mr. White shared some stories about not meeting deadlines. Students came away from the lecture with definite desires to meet all deadlines. “A smooth business runs when everybody works together and meets the deadline” (White, 2/22/2013) The students clearly understood why deadlines are important.

  6. Mr. Brian KruisBusiness Owner, Relive Corporation Mr. Brian Kruis came the lecture series talking about business ethics and responsibility, focusing on stewardship. Opening with the responsibility of finances and personal stories, the students became interested in seeing how profits should be invested or re-invested. He also talked about ethics and how a businesses should advertise and use effective advertise. Students were impressed with the Biblical connection to business.

  7. Mr. Jeff BanaszakCFO, Rehoboth Christian School Mr. Jeff Banaszak, the CFO for Rehoboth Christian School, offered some great advice to students concerning private organizations. He talked about contributions and how the laws apply. What the students liked was the connection because it was their school. He demonstrated a clear visual look at how the income and expenditures of Rehoboth. He talked some about contributions and how that works in running a business. The students enjoyed the talk, especially when they were going to use family members as contributors to their businesses.
