  4. Post War Europe • US- in charge of West Europe • Soviets- In charge of East Europe

  5. Containment • US policy of preventing the spread of Communism

  6. Marshall Plan • Aid to European nations following WWII

  7. Berlin • Soviets blockaded West Berlin for a year • West Berlin- supplied by US and Allies with an airlift

  8. United Nations • Replaced League of Nations • Attempt to prevent war

  9. NATO • Western European military alliance, led by the US

  10. Warsaw Pact • Eastern European military alliance, led by the Soviets

  11. Mao Tse Tung • Led Communist overthrow of China

  12. Korean War • North Korea- occupied by Soviets from 1945-49, communist, allied with China • South Korea- allied with the U.S, and United Nations • Boundaries at the end were similar to before the war
