  8. United Nations • Replaced League of Nations • Attempt to prevent war

  9. NATO • Western European military alliance, led by the US

  10. Warsaw Pact • Eastern European military alliance, led by the Soviets

  11. Mao Tse Tung • Led Communist overthrow of China

  12. Korean War • North Korea- occupied by Soviets from 1945-49, communist, allied with China • South Korea- allied with the U.S, and United Nations • Boundaries at the end were similar to before the war

  13. Korean War • Kim Il Sung- Leader of North Korea • Syngman Rhee-Leader of South Korea

  14. Inchon • US amphibious assault behind North Korean lines

  15. Napalm • Used in the Korean War
