SEIC has decided to completely ban Chinese trucks for use in the company due to several issues with regards to their technical and road safety performance. Reported Safety Issues With Chinese Trucks • SEIC has identified the following safety issues with regard to Chinese made trucks: • The brakes are reportedly prone to fading and consequently failure. • The driver’s cab does not pass crash testing criteria as required by Russian legal standards • Various end users have reported problems with the power steering. • Large tipper body facilitates overloading and makes visual load inspections difficult. • There are instances where the year of manufacture for the vehicles has been backdated at source - as per buyers’ requirements - in order to meet end user countries regulations for import of used trucks. “Make sure these trucks are not used on your site!”
