Clinical Parameters in Managing Liver Enzymes and Hepatic Blood Flow

Learn how plasmapheresis and bortezomib injection halted liver function deterioration in a patient after steroid treatment failed. Doppler sonography showed improved portal blood flow post-treatment. Explore the relationship between liver enzymes and hepatic blood flow.

  1. Supplemental Digital Content 2: A B Figure 2. Clinical parameters associated with liver enzymes and hepatic blood flow in patient 6. (A) This patient had rapid deterioration of liver function and was refractory to steroid treatment; however, plasmapheresis plus bortezomib injection halted deterioration and liver graft function recovered. (B) Doppler sonography identified a marked decrease in portal flow at the start of AHR; this was ameliorated after treatment. Conversely, hepatic artery inflow varied less than portal inflow.
