  3. PTA Activity • 1946 National School Lunch Act • PTA Resolutions and Position Statements • 1991 “Improving School Meal Nutrition” • 1997 “Nutrition For Children and Families” • 2004 “Nutritional Eating Requirements in Our Schools to Combat Childhood Obesity”.

  4. Wellness Policies • An opportunity for parents to become more involved in their child’s school • Parental concern about lack of physical activity, childhood obesity and overweight epidemic • Many parents unaware of current school foods environment • Next Steps: Implementation and Review
