Welcome to “What’s New in School Nutrition” • We will begin promptly at 2 p.m. • You are encouraged to print a copy of the power point and handouts prior to today’s presentation from our webpage at http://fns.dpi.wi.gov/fns_whatsnew • If you will be listening to the presentation from your computer speakers, make sure the volume is turned up loud enough for you to hear. • If you will be using a phone connection and either a laptop or PC computer with a speaker and/or microphone, make sure the computer speaker and microphone in the toolbar are turned off. Program Reminders • Second Direct Certification should be completed within 3 months of first run • Special Provision Match (CEP and P2 only) – due November 15 • Annual Financial Report – was due August 31 • Civil Rights Compliance Self-Evaluation Form – on/before October 31 • Civil Rights Training – beginning of school year

Unpaid Meal Charges • Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) agency of USDA published a Request for Information (RFI) • FNS is interested in policy and procedure details in schools regarding allowing children to “charge” the cost of a school meal related on unpaid meal charges. • Comments can be made until Jan 14, 2015 www.regulations.gov

  9. 2014 USDA Equipment Grant • Announcement letter sent to Authorized Representatives on October 24. • Equipment may not already have been purchased. • Applications due December 19, 2014. • Grant materials at http://fns.dpi.wi.gov/fns_usdaeg

  10. Equipment Preapproval Process • USDA requires that future equipment purchases over the school’s capitalization threshold be preapproved. • A list of preapproved equipment has been developed. • All materials are being reviewed and will be posted to our website shortly. • Our target for implementation is January 1, 2015.
