  1. PROJECT PLAN

  2. SUMMARY Throughout its history, Bolivia, has been unable to develop a national identity, which has resulted in a situation that now endangers democracy and puts at risk the survival of Bolivia as a united country .

  3. SUMMARY It is our purpose to produce a film that promotes peace and unity, corrects disinformation about the past and encourages national integration. This will be paralleled by a widespread campaign to instill in people an awareness of the need to play an active role in advancing the cause of peace and unity

  4. The Film Technical Information

  5. In a country on the verge of civil war, Alexander, an outstanding young journalist, is commissioned by a radical group to produce an inflammatory documentary that highlights the negative aspects of the colonial era. In his research, he comes across a violent group of campesinos and an unexpected discovery compels him to change the focus of his investigation… THE STORY

  6. ... In his quest he comes to the city of Potosi, which was completely transformed by a unique event. Alexander is forced to reconsider his radical views and face his own personal struggle. His life is threatened as he seeks to overcome all obstacles in order to bring to light "The Secret Truth" that can move his country from violence to peace.

  7. SUMMARY OF METHODOLOGY Basic Strategy • A cultural approach will be used to address a problem that has been tackled in a political and economic fashion . • The film will be entertaining, fast moving and full of elements that attract the attention of viewers (action, comedy, romance, danger, heroes, etc.) with the purpose of drawing attention to the message and making a lasting an impact. • The object of the film is not just to give the public a searching view of themselves, but also to provide an example to follow: the idea that each person in the audience can and should become the hero . • There will be a media campaign to heighten awareness and, at the same time, generate interest in the film .

To this end, events will be organized in which the film is presented and follow-up is done that clarifies historical information and the need for peace. This will be achieved by means of: • Art competitions, amateur film festivals, writing competitions, etc. all focusing on the message of the film. • Discussion groups following the film-showing. The organizations involved are the following.

  15. Some of the organizations that have confirmed their participation are:

  16. International Distribution • By means of distribution companies that exhibit the film in theaters and cultural centers, as well as making it available in video format (VHS, DVD, etc.) • The network of educational centers, religious and social institutions around the world. • International Film Festivals.

  17. PROJECT DEPENDENCIES In view of the posible break up of Bolivia and growing violence in the world we feel that it is vital for the movie to be released as soon as possible.

  18. The message is time sensitive, and our desire is to prevent further conflict and violence in Bolivia, although, in another sense, the message of the film is one of enduring relevance. • The production of audiovisual materials in Bolivia is very limited, and therefore, we do not anticipate conflict or competition for funding from other similar projects. • This project does not depend on the success of any other project. • The task of distribution and affecting the social conscience depends directly on the success of this project. • The A.C.U.P. program depends indirectly on the success of this project.

  19. SCOPE • This project is non partisan and does not aspire to become a political party. • It does aspire to influence the ways in which politics is done, through the participation of citizens. • This project does not seek to serve ethnocentric or discriminatory interests. • It seeks the integration of different cultures, races and classes in Bolivia, without eliminating the diversity. • This project does not seek to impose an absolutist and essentialist concept of what it means to be Bolivian. • It hopes to bring about positive change in the education and development of Bolivians, without violating the individuality or personal initiative.

  20. RISKS Main Risks • Unfavorable reception or negative reaction to the message of the project • A partisan or limited emphasis because of the unavoidable subjectivity of the team (thus the need to take into account different emphases or perspectives).

  21. BENEFITS Main Benefits • Diminish polarization by making room for constructive national dialogue. • Citizens will be exposed to ethics and values that they can assimilate. • The participants and supporters will be seen as promoters of peace in the country. • The mobilization of pro-peace groups within and outside the country.
