    Thesis: Albany, The capital of New York State is one of the oldest cities in North America, settled by the Dutch in 1624. This site will take you on a short trip through time, history, people, culture and growth by visiting four of it’s many neighborhoods. Some of these neighborhoods may be well known to you, others unknown or forgotten. These are streets you may travel through for fun, or on your way to work or school.

    Target Audience The audience can be anyone from the casual user, student, visitor,researcher or historian. Four Goals of this Web Site Encyclopedia of Albany History Design Considerations: Use of original photos User friendly colors Basic fonts Maps Provide email for any comments (contact information) Provide the user with no more than 3 clicks to access their desired information Site Sections Usability Objectives Site needs to have some eye- pleasing photos intermingled with text Sites need to have scholarly and correct historic information Site needs to be up to date, easy to access and use ( 3 clicks access) Depending on why the user accessed the site will determine if he/she returns and how often they return Competitive Analysis Times Union Communities Pros Overview of Albany neighborhoods in a compilation of articles written by staff writer, Frances Ingraham Simplistic design- but has many elements of a good site. Each page has options to click to other pages as well as options for contact information. Has a quasi times union logo on each page.
