Introduce you to exciting opportunities available to you at LTHS. 4.) Provide you with an opportunity to visit your locker and tour your school.

LOCKERS • All JH Lockers are located on the second floor. • Locker combinations are on your welcome back letter. • Do NOT share your locker or combination with anyone. • Do NOT allow others to store items in your locker. • See an administrator or the office staff if you have anoversized item. • Administration has the right to inspect or search lockers at all times. • Lock your gym locker. • Locker thefts & law enforcement,cameras, etc. BE PROACTIVE.

MORNING ROUTINE & AFTERNOON DISMISSAL ARRIVAL DISMISSAL 2:25pm – Dismissal Bell First week, 7th grade at 2:18pm Second week, all students at 2:25pm Walkers, Bus, Pick-up 2:35pm – First Bus Departs the High School Staff is still in the building until 2:55pm. Offices Close @ 3:30pm • 7:00am – Doors Open • Cafe • 7:15am – First Bus • Locker, Class room, Café, etc. • 7:40am – First Bell • On your way to Class • 7:45am – First Class • Morning Announcements

Café Announcements • Free and Reduced Application – Due Sept 8th • Available online or in the Main Office • No price increases for 2017-18 • Parents: Use schoolcafe.com to monitor accounts • Can submit payments electronically or send cash/check to café office • Free Breakfast for ALL students for three weeks.

  15. Library • Students will receive information at class meetings pertaining to check out and return policies • Parents: Young Adult Book Permission form

ATTENDANCE • A written excuse must be submitted to the attendance secretary within THREE (3) school days of the absence or it will be considered unexcused. • Students are limited to FIFTEEN (15) days of absence which can be excused by a parent. • If a student has accumulated THREE days of UNEXCUSED absences before the fifteen day total for parent excuses, all further absences would require a doctor’s excuse. • After THREE (3) days of UNEXCUSED absences, the administration will send an “Unlawful Unexcused Absence Letter.” Truancy Contracts are negotiated. Legal action may be taken if a student is UNEXCUSED absent for FOUR (4) or more total days. • Early Dismissals – ALL student’s must present a written request from the parent or guardian to the office BEFORE the start of school. • Tardiness – Students who are tardy to school will receive a warning letter after FIVE (5) UNEXCUSED lates to school. Further lates result in disciplinary action which may include the removal of driving privileges as well as detention. • Biggest problem = student’s not turning in Mom/Dad’s written excuse! • PARENTS: PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT TEXT MESSAGES RELATED TO YOUR CHILD’S ATTENDANCE – ask them to go to the nurse/office. Too many communication problems occur when parents and staff are not aware of student concerns. • Example: I’m not feeling good. Come pick me up. P: Go to the Nurse. • Example: I’m being bullied. Come pick me up. P: Go to the office.

Bring Your Own Device • Students must register their device. • Only registered devices may access the wireless network. • Students may only use the LTHS wi-fi network. • Devices may be accessed for educational purposes only. • Devices may only be used during instructional time at the direction of the teacher (e.g. not in the halls, not in the café, not during study hall). • Disciplinary consequences apply if the device is used inappropriately or at inappropriate times. • Example: “I got a text from my mom.” “I was checking the time.” “I didn’t know we weren’t supposed to have our phone out.” • Please consult the district’s BYOD policy for FAQs (www.ltsd.org)

  20. 10th Period / Academic Mentoring • What is academic mentoring? • A chance for you to meet with a faculty member to review your grades, progress, missing assignments, athletic (extracurricular) eligibility, etc. • When does it occur? • Four times per marking period, usually on Monday. • Special 10 period schedule • Posted in classrooms. • Teachers will remind you. • Bells will reflect shortened class periods. • No School that day? No mentoring. • Snow days, etc. • Information for parents: Students will know their academic standing. Teachers and counselors will call you. Report cards should not be a surprise. PLEASE ATTEND PARENT CONFERENCES.
