Reading-Star Reader and Accelerated Reader • Star reader test 3 times a year – gives them Z.P.D. • Children will receive a levelled Z.P.D. book • Take quizzes once finished a book – chance to move if they achieve over 85% • Children will choose books from library • Children will be heard by teachers individually and in guided reading sessions • Reading at home: take the children to the library, real reading, newspapers etc, reading records • Read daily and complete Home Reading Record.

  5. Writing • Big Write and up-levelling • Redrafting codes • You can help by: writing for a purpose: birthday cards, party invites, letters etc • Cursive handwriting

  7. Connected Learning • Vikings • Anglo-Saxons • Mayans • In the next few weeks, information will be sent out about the project we would like you to complete and bring in after half term.

  10. Homework8 words from the year 5 and 6 mixed spellings list. Mr Hawkins will be leading the spellings and children are to learn these at home.
