  3. Everyone in the recycling industry knows that buying at the right price at predictable volumes is the key to optimal margins…. Managing supplier relationships, maintaining favorable pricing and consistently securing material is a difficult balancing act… Over-capacity and market globalization make securing the needed volumes at the right prices even more challenging…

  4. To address these issues we developed the…..

  5. Keep supplier information up to date with Buyer Workbench “Mini-CRM” applications • Review and change prices as authorized • Review, create supplier contact information • Record activity notes • Add or maintain supplier profile data • Review purchase orders • Analyze supplier’s profitability • View the information your supplier sees in Supplier Information Portal (SIP) • Print and deliver or email various supplier specific reports

  6. Examples; maintain supplier contacts, profile and recorded your activities Supplier Contacts List Supplier Profile Supplier Activity Notes

  7. When a Buyer logs in, Buyer Workbench automatically analyzes their suppliers’ current and historical activity and displays a summary of this information along with insightful projections …

  8. Buyers are presented with a number of additional analysis applications. These tools provide valuable actionable information such as … • Which suppliers are “MIA” and how much lost volume these absences represent • Determining the best sources for buying more material based on historical data • Estimate profits generated by supplier, inventory grades, locations and buyer • Analyze supplier delivery purchasing trends • Project month-end buying volumes and landed costs to take corrective actions …

  9. Lets look at an example. In todays markets it is often times challenging to acquire feed stock for shredders. So let’s determine which suppliers might be able to supply more material for our shredder… One option to determine this would be use the “Missing in Action” or MIA report. Since we are only looking for ferrous shredder material, we would click on the “Fe-Shredder Feed” link as shown above….

  10. The MIA report analyses all of the buyers suppliers that bring in material associated with Inventory Type “Fe –Shred”; auto bodies, light iron, tin and white goods. It then generates a list of the underperforming suppliers and ranks them high-to-low based on the estimated tonnages they are currently under-shipping…..

  11. Once the buyer reviews this information they may wish to wish to view more detailed information for one of the suppliers listed…. This can be accomplished by simply clicking on the desired supplier…

  12. Summarized transactions details and projections for the selected supplier are displayed. In addition supplier specific tabs are presented allowing for adding and maintaining contacts, activity notes and the supplier profile details. Transaction details and projections for the shredder related materials including pricing are also displayed in a separate table…. If the Buyer is authorized, they can maintain prices and create quotes by clicking on the price to be changed…

  13. In the pricing screen the Buyer can view all the past prices and quotes prior to updating pricing… Additional comment fields also can be utilized…

  14. If the Buyer happened to be on the road, and after reviewing the MIA report was considering visiting one of the suppliers on the list they could click on the “map” icon next to the supplier…. The selected suppliers location would then appear on an interactive map… Driving directions and approximant travel time from their current location to the suppliers site is automatically provided…. They can also zoom in to see location pictures…

  15. Slicing and dicing supplier transaction date is easy to do with the robust analytical reporting tools… They provide even further insights into how best to manage suppliers • Purchase volumes and avg costs: current and last months against averages • Purchase volumes and avg costs: last 6 months • Purchase volumes and avg costs: select 2 months to compare • Supplier Purchase Profitability in any order: Branch/Location, Buyer, Grade • Top 100 suppliers across X weeks • Purchase volumes by day for the month • Purchases Scoreboard
