  1. Discover New York

  2. Trans-media Project “Discover New York” is a trans-media project that will provide a multi-platform tour of New York City. Things like the arts, restaurants, museums, nightlife, shopping, outdoor spaces and famous landmarks will be featured. The site will include maps, photographs, videos and historical facts.

  3. Premise The premise for this site is a new way to explore a city. The tour you chose to follow (if you chose to follow one path) will be created by recommendations that will come from someone working at another location (and living in New York area) that has been highlighted. There will be weekly suggestions for an event to check out.

  4. Site Description • Select a section of interest (art, food, etc.) • Map with highlighted locations • Each location has: • A photograph • A description • A historical or fun fact • A video of someone who works there or is a frequent guest talking about location • Interviewee’s “must do recommendation”

  7. Site Example (video) David Taylor is a doorman at the Empire State Building. In his interview he tells us all about What it is like to work at the New York City landmark. He also suggests we grab a bite to eat At THE MEATBALL SHOP in the Lower East side.

  8. Characters The characters that make up the site are the people living and working in New York. Through their interviews we can get a glimpse of life in New York.

  9. The Tone The tone will be adventurous, artistic and insightful. The site will be fun for travelers, students and anyone interested in the documentation of city life.

  10. Which Platforms? This trans-media project will begin on the web as a site that uses maps, photographs, videos and historical facts to give an exciting and different tour of New York City. Links to FB and Twitter to be explored. Books to become an option.

  11. The Audience This site will be useful for any travelers interested in experiencing a different type of New York. By viewing the videos they will get inside tips while meeting New Yorkers.
