  1. Metal Working

  2. Metal Working • The term “Metal Working” generally refers to process of; joining, bending, casting, and cutting metal.

  3. Joining • Joining metal most commonly refers to fastening two or more pieces together. • They can be joined by: • Mechanical Fasteners • Chemical Adhesives • Welding

  4. Mechanical Fasteners • Mechanical fasteners are: Any fastener that is held in place by force.

  5. Chemical Adhesives • The most common chemical adhesives in metal working are epoxies. They are a two-part adhesive that cures (dries) by chemical interaction between the two parts.  These are some of the strongest adhesives available.

  6. Welding • To join (metals) by applying heat, sometimes with pressure and sometimes with an intermediate or filler metal having a high melting point.

  7. Bending • Depends on the type of metal, ie. Tubing, sheet metal, band iron, etc.

  8. Casting • Cast metal - To pour a molten metal into a mold.

  9. Cutting Metal • Metal can be cut many different ways, each type of metal has a “best” way.
