What is a Tableau? Tableau - A frozen scene/picture created by a group of silent people Consists of five key elements; levels, facial expressions, clarity, interest, active body Four different types of tableaux; singular tableau, silent story tableau, narrative tableau and moving tableau
Levels Having different levels incorporated into the tableau, makes the tableau more visually appealing
Facial Expressions Persons face should show the audience clearly what emotion they’re feeling in the scene
Clarity Not complex, the tableau is easy to understand and scenes are clear
Interest Tableau should have an obvious point of interest or message
Active Body Body is frozen, yet tells the audience what is going on, what’s happening to them and how they are feeling
Silent Story Singular An Individual tableau that gives a message or an idea Silent story tableau tells a story without using words in several tableaux Narrative Moving A narrator tells the story that is taking place in the tableaux Transitions or movement is used to go to the next tableau
