Dogpile.comSearch Engine
Dogpile.com is another search engine, very similar to Google, Yahoo, and Bing. “Dogpile looks at all of them, decides which are most relevant to your search, eliminates duplicates and reveals them to you. In the end, you get a list of results more complete than anywhere else on the Web”.
I chose to search for wonderbaby.org ,a website created by an amazing mother who also has a child with Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis, through the dogpile search engine. As you could see from the previous slide- this was the very first link presented.
As previously mentioned, this website was developed by an amazing woman and mother. I have had the pleasure of meeting her and her handsome son at Perkins School for the Blind. She developed this website to help parents of blind children and other disabilities as a form of support, education and advocacy. She shares her and her sons journey with others as a way to let them know that they are not alone. This website is an amazing resource center for families!
Conclusion Dogpile.com is very similar to Yahoo, Google and Bing. It’s home page is very friendly and simple to use. The thing I liked the most about Dogpile.com was how quickly it was able to retrieve information and list it in a categorized form.
