Timeline • Early Dynastic Period: 3100 – 2686 BCE • Old Kingdom: 2686 – 2181 BCE • 1st Intermediate Period: 2181 – 2055 BCE • Middle Kingdom: 2055 – 1650 BCE • 2nd Intermediate Period: 1650 – 1550 BCE • New Kingdom: 1550 – 1069 BCE • 3rd Intermediate Period: 1069 – 664 BCE • Late Period: 664 – 332 BCE • Ptolemaic Egypt: 332 – 30 BCE

  3. Beginnings • Started 3100 BCE with the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt • Pre-3100 BCE, small tribes scattered around Egypt slowly developed into bigger civilizations

  4. Height of Prosperity • During the New Kingdom (1550-1069 BCE) • The Egyptian empire was largest during this period • Generally was a time of relative peace and wealth

  5. Endings • Alexander the Great conquered Egypt in 332 BCE • 332 – 30 BCE, Ptolemaic Egypt • Ended in 30 BCE with the defeat of Cleopatra VII and Mark Antony by the Romans
