Conference objectives • Demonstrate, strengthen, and extend IPY’s remarkable accomplishments in science and outreach. • Emphasize the breadth and global impact of polar research during IPY. • Demonstrate the benefit of early and open data sharing. • Provide a timely forum for demonstrations and discussions of wider aspects of the IPY legacy. The IPY-OSC is the first opportunity after completion of IPY field activities for direct interaction among all IPY projects and will stimulate further interdisciplinary cooperation and collaboration in polar research and outreach.

  3. Themes Early scientific results from all the IPY themes: • Linkages between polar regions and global systems • Past, present and future changes in polar regions • Polar ecosystems and biodiversity • Health and well-being of northern people and communities • New frontiers and new directions in polar research

  4. Sessions • The conference programme will be organised with a bottom-up approach. • In the 1st Circular there is an invitation to submit proposals for sessions. Participation is not limited to projects endorsed by the IPY Joint Committee. • The science programme committee will select and organise the sessions based on submitted proposals.

  5. Programme The conference programme will include: • excursions before and after the conference • social events • spouse activities • side events / business meetings • exhibition hall
