  2. Course Objectives: • Further develop reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, and critical thinking skills • Focus on reading skills, literature, vocabulary, writing, grammar, and research/reference • Prepare students for standardized testing

  3. World Literature Studies • Fiction • Short Stories • Novels: Animal Farm, Monster, Tale of Two Cities, Kite Runner • Drama: Julius Caesar, Antigone • Non-fiction • Memoir: Night • Poetry • Independent Reading Projects

  4. Independent Reading: one of the most prominent indicators of success • Student A: reads 20 minutes a night • Student B: does not read • 20 minutes a night=10 whole school days a year! Who would you expect to read better? Know more? Write better? Have a better vocabulary? Be more successful in school…on standardized tests… and in life?

  8. Required Materials • 3-Subject Notebook or Binder • Class Notes and Study Guides • Writing Assignments/Journaling • Vocabulary and Morphemes • 2 GB flash drive (recommended)
