GOVERNMENT Type of Government: Communist Description: • Congress doesn’t have much power • National people congress has three thousand members but they don’t have much power • Powerful politics are the seven members of the standing committee • Communist Party rules all of China • The Communist Party chooses who the people vote for • National Party Congress has nearly 3000 representatives

  4. GEOGRAPHY China has many different landforms. The largest mountains in China are the Himalaya Mountains. The Tibetan Plateau is the biggest plateau in China and its covered with rough jagged mountains. Western China has deadly deserts that have snakes and scorpions. The deserts can get sandstorms. The people in the west that plant rice have houses made out of clay, dirt, or trees. The eastern lowland wetlands has better land to farm than the south because it rains a lot. It has animals that help the plants like birds because the birds eats the bugs that kills the plants. In China most of the land is covered with mountains or hills in the south. Chinese people live in China because most of the land is good for farming.

  5. CLIMATE China has hot summers and long short winters. In China the summers can have temperatures over 60 degrees and the winters can be mild in the south. In Eastern China , it rains often when its summer. From the rain , farmers have big puddles for planting rice which help it to grow faster. North Western China has a lot of snow because it is mostly covered with mountains. All of China has extremely wide range of climates from the mountains and deserts.

  8. COMMON FOODS Chinese people eat a lot of healthy food. Western China has a lot of seafood because its closer to the ocean. The Chinese people use chopsticks to eat almost any food. Mostly every part in China Chinese people eat rice with almost any food just like how chopsticks are used. Peking duck is crisp roast duck with thin rolled pancakes and sweet sauce and this is a common food in Western China. In China Chinese people wake up in the morning and buy fresh meat and vegetables.

  9. SPORTS & HOBBIES China has many interesting sports and hobbies. In China big cities have parks with ping pong tables. Most kids play ping pong and some of the adults play ping pong. Chinese people love soccer the Chinese would crowed to watch the matches. Boys learn to play when they’re young. Basketball is one of the popular sports in China. In Beijing teenagers play basketball at parks.

  10. FAMOUS PEOPLE China has many famous people. Zhang Heng was the first person to invent the seismograph. Zhang Heng also made many discoveries in China. Confucius was a teacher and philosopher and he is famous for sayings. Yao Ming is a basket ball player and he is 7 feet 6 inches tall and he is in the NBA Houston Rockets.

IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTIONS • Chinese invented paper, porcelain, and fireworks • It took Chinese people 1.3 million bricks to build the forbidden city • Tv is controlled by the government in China • Chinese use chopsticks to eat mostly anything • Chinese people buy fresh meat every morning • The Great Wall was built to keep out enemies • Qin Shihuangdi was buried in a tomb with six thousand clay soldiers • Old men carry their song birds for walks • Qin Shihuangdi was the first emperor
