  2. Ford Model-T • In 1908, Henry Ford built a car called the Ford Model-T. • It was slow, ugly and difficult to drive. • It was nicknamed “Tin Lizzie”.

  3. The Ford Model-T • The first (1st) Ford model-T car cost $1200. • In 1928, the price of the car went down to $295. • By 1929 Ford built more than one car per minute.

  4. Advantages Sell the cars at a low price Standardize the car: 1 colour and 1 engine size available Disadvantages Need fewer skilled workers Cut the cost of salary Mass Production

  5. Mass Production In 1913, Ford invented the Assembly Line to speed up production.

  7. Assembly Lines A car frame is put on a conveyer belt and each person puts one piece on every car that comes down the line.
