  4. Q: WHY BOTHER HAVING A WEBSITE? • In today’s world ‘social media’ like Facebook, Flickr, Linkedin, MySpace, Twitter, Tumblr, Orkut (by Google), StumbleUpon, Delicious and Blogger are fast becoming the accepted method of mass communications (just ask USPS). All clubs are scrambling to expand their membership. A club who is not active in the ‘social media’ world (including web presence) is considered obsolete and most likely will not be able to sign up the younger crowd into their club. When anyone wants to know something about a topic or event, the first place to go is the internet or social website. It is imperative that Lions Clubs have up-to-date presence on the internet to survive! LCI now even charters CYBER LIONS CLUBS! • A website also assists in giving the local community at large a source of accurate information when donations are solicited or voluntarily made to the club. A website provides more security than FaceBook, Flickr, Linkedin, MySpace, Twitter, Tumblr and Blogging. • e-Clubhouse has programmed into the site a Members Only password protected area whereby information pertinent to only your club members can be accessed with both user name (your email address) and a single password created by your Webmaster (that can be easily changed on a regular basis for security).

  6. - LIONS CLUB WEB DESIGN HISTORY- Free Web design for Lions Clubs was created in 1995 by a volunteer group of international HTML programmers under LionNet. Sites developed in 2000 under the name LionWAP (Wireless Application Protocol) was re-introduced at the 2006 USA/CANADA Forum using a similar sample template through the dedicated efforts of LionNet . Then in 2009e-Clubhousewas launched.

  7. The previousMD21 web site was created utilizing LionNet called a LionNet Node (aka connecting point). This is one of the initial eighteen nodes created for the United States.

  8. Today’s MD21 Website was created using ‘WORDPRESS’ open sourcing software.

  9. LCI 2009 e-Clubhouse website-building software now offers EXCELLENT step-by-step tutorials, fill-in-the-blank fields and pre-formatted templates to assist you along the way. In every case you will be given examples of choices available for you to complete a particular task. Unlike previous LCI/LionNet Node website development, knowledge of computer HTML (or HTML 5) code programming is NO LONGER a requirement to develop a club web site!

  10. WHAT IS HTML CODE? HYPERTEXT MARKUP LANGUAGE or the standardized method (programming) by which web browsers can interpret and compose text, images and other material into visual or audible web pages. • (Example) • <IMG SRC="we_serve1.gif" HEIGHT=202 WIDTH=221 ALIGN=LEFT><BR> <CENTER> <B><FONT SIZE=+4>Federation City Lions Club</FONT></B> <BR> <B><FONT SIZE=-1>Pardon our appearance ... <IMG SRC="undercon.gif" HEIGHT=38 WIDTH=38> we're still building this site !</FONT></B></P> </CENTER> • (Yields)
