  1. Biomes By, Veronica Simpson

  2. Fresh water biome • An fresh water biome is an biome were the water has low concentration of salt usually less then 1%. An example of a fresh water biome would be: lakes, ponds, streams, rivers and wetlands. • Fresh water biomes provide one fifth the earth's drinking water. It provides an habitat for over 700 species of fish and 1200 species of amphibians. • Fresh water biome climate: summer- 22C/71.6F, winter-4C/39.2F • Plant life: algae, cattails, deer flower, false ivy, swamp frond. • Animal life: leeches, turtles, frogs, cat fish, ducks, salmon.

  3. Fresh water biome

  4. Marine biome • The marine biome covers over three fourths of the earths land. The evaporation the marine biome provides rain water for the land. An example of the marine biome is the ocean. • Climate: the climate doesn’t effect the marine biome much its warmer as you get closer to the equator and colder as you get more far out in the ocean. The marine biome does give effect to the climate on land, the currents effect all the coastal areas which is caused by winds. • The marine biome provides many different species of animal life some examples would be: sharks, dolphins, humpback whale, seagulls, sea turtle, tropical fish. • The marine biome also provides different species of plant life like: green algae.

  5. Marine biome

  6. Forest biome • Today the earths forest holds one third of land. The forest help to take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. With today's growth of the human population the forests have been polluted or cut down which can effect the environment and global warming. • there are three major types of forest taiga, tropic and temperate. • Tropical forest holds the most range of diversity species. its temperature for the cold months varies from 20-25C. • Taiga forest is located in Eurasia and north America it has the longest coldest winters. • Temperate forest is located in east north America and Asia.

  7. Forest biome

  8. Desert biome • The desert biome covers one fifth of the earths land. Desert are located were the rainfall is less the 50 cm/ per year. • There are different types of desert biomes- hot & dry, semiarid, coastal, cold. • Hot & dry desert is usually warm throughout the year and very hot in the summer has very little rainfall. • Semiarid desert summers are usually long and dry and in winter brings little rainfall. • Coastal desert have cool winters and mostly warm summers. Animals that live there would be coyote, frogs owl. • Cold desert mostly gets rain fall throughout the year and snow in winter. Animals that live there would be squirrels, mice, lizards

  9. Desert biome

  10. Grass land biome • Grass lands biomes are lands dominated by grasses. • There are two types of grass lands savannas and temperate grass lands. • Savanna grass land is mostly scattered with different trees. There mostly found in warmer an hot climate. Africa would be one place to find the savanna grass land. Animals that would live there would be zebras, lions, lizards, birds. • Temperate grass lands are known for there vegetation, they don’t have any trees or shrubs just grass. Animals that would live there would be skunks, foxes, coyotes, mice, birds.

  11. Grassland biome

  12. Tundra biome • The tundra biome is the coldest of all the biomes. There are no trees in this biome. It has extremely cold climates. The types of animals you will find there would be polar bears, seals, penguins.
