  1. United StatesConstitution. By: Jacob Triptow 6th Period.

  2. Article One – Legislative Branch • HOUSE • Qualifications- Age 25 • Citizenship- 7 years • Residency- Live in the state for which you are elected. • Elections- Every two years. • Responsibility – impose and collect taxes and duties, borrow money, regulate commerce with foreign nations and among the states, coin money, establish post offices, declare war, raise and support an army and navy.

  3. Article One continued… • SENATE • Qualifications- Age 30 • Citizenship – 9 years • Residency-Live in the state for which you are elected. • Elections- Every six years. • Responsibilities- The senate shall choose their officers and has the sole power to try all impeachments.

  4. Article Two – Executive Branch • President • Qualifications- Age 35 • Citizenship – Must be a natural born citizen. • Residency- Must have been a resident for 14 years. • Elections – Every four years. • Responsibilities – Carry out and enforce laws made by Congress, make treaties with foreign nations, appoint certain important government officials, act as Commander –in-Chief of the Armed Forces, veto laws passed by Congress.

  5. Article Three – Judicial or Court System • Length of Tenure – Life or until they retire. • Responsibilities- Judges should be appointed, also they use their best judgment to try cases. Judges should keep their positions and cannot be removed unless impeached.

  6. Amendment One • Freedom of Religion – right to practice religion of choice. • Freedom of Speech – right to speak freely. • Freedom of the Press – right to express oneself freely in the press. • Freedom of Assembly and Petition - the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

  7. Amendment Five • Right to Due Process – the right to due process of law, including protection against self-incrimination. Right to trial by a grand jury.

  8. Amendment Fourteen • The 14th Amendment guarantees citizenship, due process and equal protection under the law by the state.
