NATIONALS THIS YEAR • There were 349 events……a record! • New clubs such as Victoria Youth Paddling Club (Victoria, BC) and Club Cascade  (Chelsea, QC.) won medals. • Kamloops, a member for many years, won medals. • Ottawa River competed in age class events. • Pitt Meadows competed with a strong Paracanoe contingent. • Onake competed. • Club de canotage de Shawinigan competed. • For the first time, heats in the PaddleALL men’s K-1 event.  • Toronto’s National Dragonboat Club raced in the Jr Men’s War Canoe and vowed to return in fours and war canoe.  • Collingwood Dragonboat & Canoe Club raced at Nationals and at Canmas • South Niagara had a healthy contingent paddling at Canmas. • The brand new Cobourg Dragonboat & Canoe Club raced at Canmas

Restructure the Competition Model to fit with LTAD • Develop consensus on way ahead. • Modify Competitions to improve retention at all levels; emphasis upon under 18; Implement a stable canoe and kayak introductory programme (U12- U14?) in a developmentally appropriate equipment model • develop multiple entry points to youth Sprint programming • use provincial events to promote cross-over paddling • at younger age groups align more closely to stage based events (eliminate /modify age groups?) • develop competition templates for all stages • YEAR ONE • Finalize the LTAD Competition Review and implement a series of Rule Changes or guidelines to effect the recommendations of the Review

22. Strengthen the Technical Leadership in Clubs • Continue active coaching engagement through various means: mentoring programming; sharing of coach resources: helping new clubs to secure their future, • Encourage access to education programming • Promote opportunities for female coaches: ie. female War Canoe coxes, etc. • continue NCCP investment. • ongoing internet coaching courses • CKC-Prov. partnering for training and PD activities. • National 'Best Practices' events • Learning opportunities for 'Club' coaches

28. Increase the volunteer and staff leadership capacity throughout sprint racing • YEAR ONE • revamp Padtrac to fit with Provincial reporting requirements and to be the primary tool for Club administration. • Promote engagement of member Clubs in the CLUB EXCELLENCE programme • establish a Club mentoring programme to support new, small and remote Clubs • Actively engage former members to take on new roles at Clubs, Division and CKC levels.

31. Reinforce the ‘Canadian’ as a core club development program (including traditional C4 and war canoe). • Add more war canoe events into all programming (regional and national) including mixed gender and 200's in accordance with LTAD objectives. YEAR ONE • Develop a rule change proposal for adding War Canoe 200's and mixed gender events under our LTAD Competition Review.
