Exciting Things about Whitehall • Whitehall, NY is known as the “Birthplace of the U.S. Navy” because ships built here played a vital role in delaying the British Invasion • Benedict Arnold constructed these ships in Whitehall • Skene manor, located in Whitehall, is a mountain castle that has been featured on the National Register of Historic Places • The town was founded was Philip Skene, and was originally called Skenesborough • Skenesborough can be dated back to 1759 • Whitehall is home to the one-of-a-kind Bridge Theatre • Whitehall is located at the southern tip of Lake Champlain • The elevation of the town is 125 feet • The town slogan is “a great place to drop anchor” • Sasquatch, or Bigfoot, was spotted in Whitehall dozens of times between 1959 and 1990

Latitude is 43.555N and longitude is -73.404W. The closest metropolitan area is Glens Falls. Community festivals include the Summer Festival, held in July.
