  6. Terminology • Catalog – the collection of courses (complete with descriptions, prerequisite information, and other unique course data) offered by the University. In SIS+ this is the equivalent of screen 125 • Pre-requisite – a course or test score that must be met before registration for a course can occur • Co-requisite – two separate courses that must be taken at the same time

Terminology – cont. • Schedule Type – same as activity type in SIS+ • Billing hours – equals FIN hours in SIS+ • Term – new naming conventions for Banner • Fall = 40 2004F = 200440 in Banner • J-term = 10 2005J = 200510 in Banner • Spring = 20 2005S = 200520 in Banner • Summer = 30 20051 = 200530 in Banner 20052 = 200530 in Banner

  8. Naming Conventions • Each position of a form name has a connection to the role it has in Banner and the module. Example: SCACRSE S = Student C = Catalog A = Application CRSE = Course

Course Catalog Menu • SCACRSE – basic course information • SCADETL – course detail information form • SCARRES – course registration restrictions form • SCAPREQ – catalog pre-requisite and test score restrictions form • SCASRES – schedule restrictions form • SCABASE – course base maintenance form (very restricted access to this form) • SCATEXT – college/department text form

  13. Let’s Log in to Banner • Log into BlackBoard • Scroll to the Banner Training and Support block • Click on the Internet Native Banner under the Demonstration Instance • Use the username and password at your workstation to log in

  14. Banner Navigation Refresher • Use your navigation chart • Place your cursor over the icons as a refresher • Don’t forget to SAVE your work • Next block function • LOV list of values (F9 in Banner = F2 in SIS+)

  18. Course Detail Information Form (SCADETL) • Co-requisites • Equivalents – used when we renumber courses • Fee information • Degree attributes • Course text • Transfer institution data • Maintain historical records

  19. Course registration restrictions (SCARRES) • Restrict specific courses to include/exclude students by: • College - Level • Campus - Major • Degree - Class • Program • End or modify restrictions

  20. Test score & prerequisite restrictions (SCAPREQ) • Test score and course pre-requisite restrictions • Specific tests and minimum score(s) • Course, level and minimum grade • Concurrency indicator • And/or logic

  21. SCAPREQ - continued • Using CAPP area restrictions • If the course will be used as part of the CAPP program, put a check in the “CAPP Areas for Prerequisites” box. • Pre-requisite course restrictions will check graded courses • Academic history • Registration • Transfer work

  22. SCAPREQ - continued • Pre-requisite course restrictions will check ungraded courses if “Use In Progress” is checked on Term Control (SOATERM) form

  25. Course Base Maintenance Form (SCABASE) • REMINDER: Restricted access to this form. • Change start term of the catalog entry • End catalog course

  26. College/Department Text Form (SCATEXT) • College and/or department specific text may be entered

  27. Bulletin Report (SCRBULT) • Banner has the ability to produce a catalog report with detailed information including: • Descriptive text • Pre-requisites • Co-requisites • CAPP area and program requirements
