  2. What is Pre-History? Pre-History is a time in the past when there were no written records, because there was no system of writing. • In order to know about the people and events of pre-historic times, archaeologists have to study artifacts, archaeological sites and oral traditions to try and figure out what happened. • Artifact: An object or item (bones, tools, clothing, weapons, etc.) that can be used to learn about the past. • Oral Traditions: Stories passed down by word-of-mouth. • Archaeological Site: The actual location of artifacts or the actual place where the people lived.

  5. Stonehenge is a massive circular stone structure. Researchers are not sure why or how this circular structure was built. What do YOU think?

  7. The Nazca Lines. There are hundreds of lines and shapes drawn on the desert that were first spotted when planes began flying over Nazca, Peru. They do not know how or why these very large lines and shapes were drawn on the desert floor. What do YOU think?

  11. The statues, called “moai” There are 887 statues. They are not sure why or how these statues were created. What do YOU think?

  13. The Terra Cotta Warriors were discovered in 1974 by farmers who were digging a well. Archaeologists have uncovered 4 pits that are as big as 2 football fields. Archaeologists and historians know the Terra Cotta army was found near the tomb of a Chinese emperor but they do not know for sure how or why they were made. What do YOU think?
