  5. Government In Iraq • The Coalition Provisional Authority- was established in 2003 as a transitional government but dissolved in 2004 • Governed by an American, the Iraqi governing council had limited powers • Goals to maintain security and rebuild Iraq’s damaged infrastructure

  6. Bush Administration • In 2003 the bush administration disbanded the Iraqi military; this put 250,000 men out of a job • Goal going into Iraq was to find nuclear weapons being made, stop terrorism

  7. Obama’s goals • To remove as many as 2 brigades a month, all in 16 months. • GOAL: MAY 2010
