The War in Iraq. By: Amanda Walczak. Death Toll. The number of American soldiers killed in the war is now 4,257. There is an official number of 31,089 soldiers wounded but there is an estimated number of 100,000 wounded. As of today there have been 1,311,696 Iraqi casualties due to the war.

  2. Death Toll The number of American soldiers killed in the war is now 4,257. There is an official number of 31,089 soldiers wounded but there is an estimated number of 100,000 wounded. As of today there have been 1,311,696 Iraqi casualties due to the war. When the war is over it has been estimated to have cost the United States over three trillion dollars.

  6. No Provisional Iraqi Gov’t Iraq's government started out being ruled by one main leader. There were strict rules and not many rights for women. Since the war the government has been more democratic. Elections have been held to vote for officials Women are allowed to get an education. Power is not only held by one main person.

  7. Disbanding the Iraqi Military Disbanding the military was not part of president Bush's original plan. Eventually the American Army began to create a new Iraqi military. The military was made into three divisions. The army was pretty much a failure. The American officials decided to dissolve the army all together.

  8. Troop Levels There were 132,000 troops in Iraq before the surge. Then 16,000 troops were sent making the number of troops 148,000. That is a 12 percent increase in numbers. Troops are supposed to be withdrawn by the year 2010. How fast withdrawal will happen is still unknown.
