GOALS OF RENEW MEDIA/COMMUNICATIONS: • Establish website “clearinghouse” for healthy living information, news and policy resources in LA County • Disseminate social media messages to broaden awareness about the importance of nutrition, physical activity and healthy communities • Share the successes of RENEW projects and partners • Support national media campaign efforts Made possible by funding from the Department of Health and Human Services through the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

MEDIA STRATEGY • WHAT do you want to change? • Decrease sugar-loaded drink consumption. • HOW are you going to change this? • Educate consumers & policymakers; reduce access. • WHY do you want it to be changed? • It’s one piece of the growing obesity epidemic. NATIONAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN RENEW LA County is one of 50 “Communities Putting Prevention to Work ” communities, and the national media campaign will include print, radio, television and social media efforts to provide opinion leaders and community members with useful, relevant and constant messaging at various touch points. NATIONAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN: KEY MESSAGES • Increasing healthy food access in communities • Expanding opportunities for active living in all communities • Increasing daily, quality physical education and physical activity in locations such as schools • Increasing healthy food & drink/decreasing unhealthy food & drink access in locations such as schools • Reducing exposure to secondhand smoke in locations such as multi-unit housing Made possible by funding from the Department of Health and Human Services through the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
