  2. AIMS 2 2 • This lecture aims to: • Review of the notion of architecture. • Description of the notion of Interior design. • Differences between Architecture, Interior Design and Interior Decoration “ Décor “.

  4. 1- REVIEW OF THE NOTION OF ARCHITECTURE • ARCHITECTURE : • ARHOS : Chief • TEKTON : Master • A science supported by scientific research and is a result of an extended knowledge ( VS ) . • The scientific art to build buildings characterized by functionalism, strength, beauty and economy, and fulfills human beings’ physical, psychological and spiritual needs, individually and collective ( Dr. Erfan samy ). • An activity aims to produce buildings and facilities that match human beings social, behavioral, artistic and cultural needs ; a unity that represents a true companionship between functionality and beauty, and between physical and spiritual culture of human beings (Dr. SH. Ghadban ) . 4

  5. 2- INTERIOR DESIGN - NOTION • A study of interior spaces and design the appropriate solutions for the elements that compose them ; to make the interior spaces capable to perform their function efficiently through the use of appropriate materials and colors in a reasonable cost. • The art of solving the difficulties that face us in interior circulation to make the spaces and their interior furniture and components easier to use, more comfortable and amusing . • The ability to arrange the interior space in order to perform the designated function easily. • The ability to create creative solutions by the use of suitable materials and colors appropriate for the interior space 5 5

  6. 2- INTERIOR DESIGN - NOTION • All definitions raise the same aim : design and arrangement of interior spaces using appropriate materials , colors and other elements to make the spaces functional, beautiful and amusing . 6 6

  11. 7- CONCLUSION • Interior design could be defined as the design and arrangement of interior spaces using appropriate materials , colors and other elements to make the spaces functional, beautiful and amusing . • Interior design is a profession that has concise specializations and is related to many other specializations. 11 11
