  4. What we will do today… • Get to know each other and obtain our 1st six weeks seating arrangement • Class Policies & Procedures

  6. Welcome!! • Please fill out student information cards. On the LINED side: a. Your Name & Period # b. Your Email Address c. Your Mailing Address d. Your Parent or Guardian’s Name(s) Phone(s) Email

  7. Answer on the back of your cards • List 4 of your best characteristics. • List one thing you are most proud of. • What would you like to do to better yourself. • What are some goals you have for the semester? • What career do you plan to pursue and why? NO IDK’s!!

  11. Class Rules Be a Biology “CHAMP” • Cheer on your class mates in all activities • Honor each other, yourselves, and the teacher • Accept responsibility for your actions • Make good choices by following all class rules • Prepare for and Participate in all class activities, labs, & assessments

  12. Supplies • Trays • Supplies (pens, pencils, etc) • Textbooks/Workbooks • Personal Responsibility DAILY • Spiral Notebooks (Journals) • Writing Utensils (pen & pencil)

  13. Student Assistants • 4 Student Assistants per six weeks • Responsibilities: • Attendance • Homework • Help with Lab Materials • Any other misc. help the teacher may require • Student assistants will automatically get a free assignment passand candy of their choice at the end of the six weeks.

  14. Passes • Nurse passes will be issued ONLY if you have your ID • Library passes will be issued ONLY if you have your ID • Bathroom passes will be issued ONLY if you have your ticket (you will get these next week) and an ID. • You will not be allowed to go to your locker or to another class for any reason – DON’T ASK • We do daily ID and dress code checks at the door– please come to class prepared or consequences will follow.

  16. TAKE OUT YOUR SYLLABUS • Let’s read through it together • Required Supplies • Grading • Questions? • Sign the syllabus NOW Have your parents sign it tonight and return it next class period.

  17. TAKE OUT YOUR LAB SAFETY FORM • When you get home, read the form – FRONT & BACK. • Sign it NOW – Have your parents sign it tonight and return it on your next class period. • THIS IS MANDATORY for participation in ANY lab activities!!!

  18. What’s Next?? • Introduce and discuss Lab Safety • Please bring ALL signed papers and materials to class tomorrow!

  20. SCAVENGER HUNT • Do you know how to find information in our Biology textbook? • Get into groups of 3-4 people… • You have until the end of the class period to complete the scavenger hunt • A PRIZE will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place groups!! • GO!!!
