Gargoyles & Monsters • In the Middle Ages in Western Europe (France, England, Spain, etc.) Gargoyles were carved and added to many buildings including churches and public buildings • Some thought they were keeping Evil outside of the building • They mostly served the purpose of being a waterspout, keeping the flow of rainwater away from the foundation of the building

  7. Instructions • 1. Draw/design your monster head on paper • Have it approved by Mrs. Helms • 2. Hollow out as much as possible!!!!! • If any clay is thicker than 1 inch, it could have air bubbles and BLOW UP! • Monster heads must be at least 8 inches by 5 inches • As much detail as possible!!! • Feel free to use additives • i.e. nails, glass, textures, etc.
