  1. MODAPS PIP Report September 1, 2009 1-866-738-1275 9454131

  2. Summary of MODAPS Production 9/1 • Forward Processing C5, 5.1 and 4.1: • Aqua forward processing is as close to real time as possible. • There was an anomaly with the Terra science formatter on day 238. Approximately 6 hours of data were lost. An additional 4 hours of attitude and ephemeris data are still missing. This is delaying LST, atmospheres and 8 and 16 day processing. • A flaw was discovered at the LP DAAC in the MCD12Q2 products. The LongName needs correction and new ESDTs have been requested from ECS. The data will be reprocessed once the new ESDTs have been installed. • Collection 5.1 M*DHDFSR 2003 reprocessing for burned area reprocessing • The leading edge for this reprocessing is at day 2003/287. Processing is expected to complete at the end of this month. • Burned area reprocessing will be performed over the entire Terra and Aqua missions.

  3. Summary of PGE Deliveries to SDST (9/1) Collection 5 • Atmospheres: • PGE04 for Terra Deep Blue has been baselined. • Land: • A new version of PGE11(LSR) for Mandriva was delivered. Collection 6 • Level 1: • A new version of PGE02 (L1b) for Terra and Aqua has been baselined. • Land: • We have received the collection 6 versions of PGE16 (LST), PGE75 (daily CMG), PGE21 (8-day Surface Reflectance), PGE90 (Aeronet Subsetter) and PGE11(LSR)

  4. Summary of Science Testing (9/1) • Atmospheres: • A 5-day science test (1 Aqua, 4 Terra) for PGE04 Terra deep blue has completed and is under review. An additional 16 days of Terra will be tested when these results are approved. • Results of science tests for PGE69 Mandrake and Mandiva have been approved; waiting for a PCR. • Land Science Testing: • A science test for PGE72 (for land water mask) is running (29 of 32 16-day periods have completed). Three new 16-day periods were added to replace the periods where we were unable to produce data due to night mode only data . This should complete next week. • We have completed generating a 1-year test data set of C6 PGE11(LSR) and PGE75(CMG) to be used for collection 6 science testing. • Test results from SSTG for C6 PGE16 are under review by Dr Wan. • A test for PGE60 (check for dynamic chip files) completed successfully.

  5. Summary of Science Testing (9/1) • L1 Science Testing: • A second science test for C6 PGE01 was processed through LSR and control points and is under review. • A science test plan has been submitted by the LDOPE group for PGE02. This test is expected to start in 2 weeks. • Mandriva Science Testing: • A science test for PGE06 on Mandriva failed and is under review by SSTG. • PGEs 60 (C5) and 90 (C5 and C6) have been approved after evaluation of the science tests. • A chain test from L0 through the land dailies has completed and is under review. The test will be run again next week. • PGEs 01,02,03,07,08,21, 25,29,31,34,35,43,44, 45, and 58 have passed Mandriva testing. • Land PGEs are being tested using inputs generated on the Mandrake system • PGEs 3,7,8,11,12,13,14,15,22,43,44,46,75,80 and 84 were tested. • A second science test for PGE16 completed and failed. Test results have been forwarded to the developer. • Tests for 8- and 16-day PGEs completed; PGEs 21,45,31,58,25,35,29 and 34 passed, PGE72 failed.
