After every show we upload the mobile no.s from the patrons who have attended that show (and agreed to be contacted by SMS for future shows) to the database.  The database is split into 3 categories - music, drama and comedy and poeple are put into one, two or all three categories according to what events they wish to be contacted about.”

Often people will read about an upcoming event or see a poster and think 'I must go to that' but then forget about it.  Where the texts come in is they serve as a figurative tap on the shoulder.  We do see a significant increase in bookings immediately following the sending out of a text. Also, regular customers seem to like getting texts - it makes them feel appreciated and part of a group.  I recall one event a couple of years ago where the event was sold out before the time where we'd normally get around to texting so we never sent out any texts.  We actually got complaints from people giving out that we hadn't contacted them.”
