  5. Pre-reading Brief introduction New Zealandis a country in the South Pacific(太平洋). It has over 270,000 square kilometers but it has a small population. The national bird is Kiwi (几维鸟). The capital of the country is Wellington, but the largestcity is Auckland. The main language is English but Maori (毛利语) is also an official (官方的) language.

  15. Mt Eden(伊甸山) is a 200 metres high volcano . It is the highest point in Auckland, and easily offers the best view of the city.
