A Eucharistic Response to Poverty Those who celebrate the Eucharist enter into communion with Christ The Eucharistic meal forms us into God’s family and empowers us to live in solidarity with one another The Eucharist is at the heart of the Catholic response to poverty because Jesus calls us to “give them something to eat” in the biblical story of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. If we respond to one another’s needs with love, all people will have enough to live a full and abundant life. Sharing the world’s resources equitably is the key to the economic aspect of human development. It is important to remember that:- people are more than possessions- the earth is a gift for all people- we must become Christ’s hands and his feet to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to give drink to the thirsty etc.
