  1. Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope GLAST Large Area Telescope: Electronics, Data Acquisition & Flight Software W.B.S 4.1.7 LAT meeting- V4 July 17, 03 Gunther Haller, JJ Russell haller@slac.stanford.edu (650) 926-4257

  2. Key Milestones, new schedule (1)

  3. Key Milestones (2)

  4. Key Milestones (3)

  5. Main Interdependencies

  6. Flight Hardware Procurements • Req’s for Omnirels, MAXIM’s, EEPROM in purchasing • Writing req’s for Actels, MOSFET’s, memories, EMI filters, DC/DC hybrids

  7. Flight Hardware Manufacturing • First Board to be fabricated is TEM Qual • Need by Dec 1, 03 • Package for fab and assembly must be placed by Sept 1, 03 • All assembly drawings final by Aug 15, 03 • Tower Power Supply Module 2 weeks behind TEM • Others ~ Jan 04

  8. Engineering Model Testing • Continuous testing up to commitment for flight fab (of course continuous beyond that but changes have impact) • Must have full set of front-end electronics to verify DAQ hardware/software • Must have CAL/TKR Mini Twr with detectors to debug/test/verify DAQ system including trigger hardware & software

  9. Open Flight Design Issues • Detailed routing of wires in GASU (~3,000 wires in enclosure) • New Tower Power supply circuit needs to be tested

  10. Cost/Schedule Status • Pretty much on schedule (except TEM and TEM-PS, 4 weeks late, FSW is being assessed) • Cost: overrun will occur in • Front-end simulator • Had to be redone after move of project to SLAC • Storage interface board • Added in each crate to simplify software • FSW needs more man-power • Tower Power supply cost being assessed • EGSE test-stands

  11. Issues/Concerns • Concern of performance of Tower Power Supply • Need prototype to evaluate (Oct 1, 03) • Must connect to CAL and TKR tower and perform noise measurements • Needs to be done by Cal and TKR system • Concern that TKR and CAL will interfere with each other when integrated in TKR – CAL – TEM package (EMI/EMC) • Need detailed plan to test • Who is taking care of this? • Concern that DAQ HW and FSW may not have continuous access to TKR and CAL Mini TWR instrumented with detectors • Must plan for continuous access • Need more than 3-X and 3-Y layers • Concern that FSW is late • Need to add promised man-power
