A&A Deans Meeting 11.25.13 The purpose of this presentation was to provide an update on institutional assessment activities, and to get feedback from A&A Deans to share with the Institutional Assessment Council. This presentation primarily focuses on the findings and recommendations of Dr. Bill Rickards, who recently completed an assessment consultation project for PSU. Questions can be directed to Janelle Voegele (voegelej@pdx.edu).

Recommendations: Next Steps Immediate priorities: • Develop Institutional Assessment Council • Invest faculty as co-investigators in questions stemming from real issues in programs (ex: retention, class size) • Highlight assessment practices at program and department level, including exploring assessment practices with specific curriculum content

  6. Next steps, cont. Mid-range priorities • Anticipate collaborations between OAI and other divisions to examine PSU education during time of increased enrollment, persistence to graduation, etc. • Use of current resources for teaching, learning and assessment; Integrate data streams from multiple campus sources • Develop assessment applications from Provost’s Challenge • Develop means for sharing experiences from individual efforts (interactive communication tools) • Explore connections with faculty senate

  7. Next steps, cont. Long-range priorities • Consider a research agenda for teaching, learning and assessment • Strengthen Faculty-in-Residence program to include select research initiatives
