  3. Helpful Tips for Essay Writing • AP readers are looking for two aspects in an FRQ: • How clearly does the writer present a thesis? • How well does the writer support their thesis with relevant outside evidence from a historical period?

  4. Helpful Tips for Essay Writing • Read the question carefully and focus your discussion on directly answering the question • Use the question as a logical clue as to how the essay should be organized (categories)

  5. Helpful Tips for Essay Writing • Writing is thinking on paper. It doesn’t matter how well you say nothing, it’s still NOTHING!!! • You are writing to impress an AP reader who will have approximately 2 minutes with your essay
