Tatenergo is one of the leading energy companies in Russia. Tatenergo comprises OAO Generating Company, OAO Network Company, OAO Tatenergosbyt, OAO Kazan Heat Network Company and 4 branches, including trading company Energosbyt. Each year, its power supply system generates over 23 billion kW/h of electric and over 30 million GCal of thermal energy. At 1.01.2009, the output of generating equipment totals some 6800 MW (82% from heat and 18% from hydroelectric power plants). Total heat output is 14,500 GCal/hour. The length of power transmission lines rated at 35-500 kV is over 12,000 kilometres. The length of overhead and cable lines of transmission network rated at 0.4-10 kV is over 50,800 kilometres, including more than 14,000 transformer substations and transmission stations.   26. The agro-industrial complex is one of the most sustainable sectors of the Tatarstan's economy. By the ending 2009 over 140,000 workers were employed in agriculture. In all sectors of economy overall output accounted for € 2.82 billion. In 2009, 4.8 million MT of grain was gathered, 1.9 million MT of milk produced, 413,000 MT of cattle and poultry bred. Despite the fact that the territory of the Republic lies within the risky agricultural zone, it enjoys self-sufficiency in basic agricultural produce and is successful in selling them outside the republic. Milk processing output in 2008 totalled 620,000 MT; grain production, 705,000 MT; and meat production, 18,000 MT.
