  2. So what is Invasive Species? • An Invasive species is a plant or animal speciesthat has been brought somewhere from a totally different place. It is not native to the area it is currently living. • Reasons why invasive species are here in North Carolina: people bring them here because of their beauty. They want to put unique or different species in their lawns and landscaping. • Invasive Species produce a new exotic plant each season.

  3. What is the difference between Native Species and Invasive Species? • A native species is something that has always been here. • An Invasive species is something that isn’t native and comes from a different place. • Native ⬇ Invasive ⬇ • n V.S.

What are some types of Invasive Species? • Asian carp ( a prodigious fish) • Brown marmorated stinkbugs • West Nile Virus (spread by mosquitos that are infected with the virus) • Cogon grass (increases threat of wildfire) • Feral Pigs (eat almost anything, including native birds) • European Green Crabs • Those are just a few types of Invasive species, but we have to move on

  5. What is an Example of an Invasive Species in North Carolina? A really common Invasive species in North Carolina is Brown Stinkbugs!

  7. I know this is what it seems like to you!But getting to know about the effects of Invasive species is VERY important to know.Native Plants are Starting to Abate.These plants are starting to die down because of the Invasive plants.

What can you do about Invasive Species? • Contact a local plant society or State Department of Natural Resources to find out which plants are invasive in your area. • Learn to identify local Invasive species. • Remove Invasive species or prevent their spread. • Make others aware of invasive species.
