  2. Life In The Villages • In Timucaan villages there were mostly two kinds of houses. One kind of home was called a long house. It was built using poles for a frame and use bark for their walls and branches from palmetto trees for the roof top. Another type of home was round and covered with leaves from trees.

  3. The Timucan Were Popular • The Timucan were liked because they had more permanent villages than a lot of other tribes. Each family had their own home but the cooking took place in the village a central location. They wore clothes that were made of deer skin.

  4. About Their Leaders • Timucan liked to hold ceremonies for planting and honoring leaders who died. A Shaman, the religious leaders of the tribe, conducted the ceremonies.

  5. How They Hunted • The Timucan like other native Americans where skilled hunters and fishermen. The men made tools for hunting and fishing. They used spears, clubs, bows, arrows, and blow guns to kill their game. Some of the game that they used for food included bears, deer, wild turkey and alligators. They smoked meat over coals and prepared the animal hides to be used for clothing.
