Yurok Tribe: Tradition, Food, and Wealth

The Yurok Tribe primarily relied on salmon as their main food source, supplementing their diet with wildfowl and deer. They utilized materials like woodpecker scalps and albino deer skins to signify wealth. Acorns, berries, and roots were vital, and they made baskets and canoes from trees. Known for their herbal healing practices, the Yurok believed that land ownership reflected wealth. They often sold land to acquire more, enhancing their status, especially for women who gained wealth through healing practices.
