Your child will have homework every night Monday thru Thursday. Homework will consist of a homework journal that will have a homework journal inside. Please complete the night’s assignment in the homework journal. An additional math worksheet will be assigned occasionally. Students will receive spelling words every Monday. Your child must read for 20 mins every night and record the books they read on their reading log.
Parent and teacher communication is very important to me. Email is a great way to communicate if you do not need immediate action or reply. I check my email twice a day. My email address is email@example.com. I will send home completed work on Thursdays.
Classroom Behavior Management System
There is much to learn in second grade! We do not want to take time away from learning for inappropriate behavior. In our classroom, we have a behavior management system that is based on points. We have a vertical number chart and each child has a “clip” on the chart. Each day your child will start on a 3, which is a good day. Students move their clip based on behavior choices Clips are moved up for positive choices and going above and beyond. Likewise, clips can be moved down for negative choices and inappropriate behavior. It is important to understand that a 3 is a good number and worthy of recognition. We truly appreciate your support as we establish a positive learning community.
