  2. n a te dice que multipliques a por sí misma un número n de veces: Pero esos son exponentes positivos, Pero que pasa si el exponente es negativo 8-2

  3. Un exponente negativo nos indica cuántas veces  Por ejemplo: 8-1 = 1 ÷ 8 = 1/8 = 0,125 dividir por ese número. O muchas divisiones: Por ejemplo: 5-3 = 1 ÷ 5 ÷ 5 ÷ 5 = 0,008

  4. Pero se puede hacer de una forma más fácil: 5-3también podría calcularse así: 1 ÷ (5 × 5 × 5) = 1/53 = 1/125 = 0,008

  5. Mas ejemplos:

  6. Pero ATENCIÓN a cuando la base también es negativa Por ejemplo:   o bien Fíjate que el poner el inverso de la base no significa cambiar el signo de la misma. Al final el signo del resultado dependerá de si el exponente es par o impar. Con las fracciones ocurre lo mismo. Así:   o bien:

  7. Veamos cuando la base es una fracción de numerador. Ejemplo: a) B) Si te fijas, todos los números que están elevados a exponentes negativos, al pasarlos a exponentes positivos pasan del numerador al denominador y viceversa.
