  2. Advisory Committee • Volunteers authorized by boards of education to advise workforce development programs in such areas as new and emerging careers, curriculum, assessment, work-based learning, facilities and equipment; and to engage educators to improve and expand programs

  3. Associate School • Any member school district of a CTPD that does not serve as the fiscal agent

  4. Association of Career Technical Education (ACTE) • Largest national education association dedicated to the advancement of education that prepares youth and adults for careers

  5. Business Professionals of America (BPA) • Serves students in Finance, Business administration, Management Information Systems, Digital Communication & Design, and Management, Marketing & Communication

  6. Career Technical Assurance Number (CTAN) • Matches the course/program to the appropriate CTAG competences/learning objectives

  7. CTAG • A pathway of secondary and post secondary non-duplicative course sequences that culminates in a diploma, credential, and/or degree(s)

  8. Career Technical Planning District (CTPD) • The local education agency configuration that meets the minimum requirements of law and subsequent standards to offer state sanctioned career technical programming

  9. Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) • Intracurricular component of career-technical programs having activities designed to support instructional objectives and attainment of technical competencies while helping student members develop interpersonal, citizenship and leadership skills

  10. Concentrator • Career-tech student who has completed half of a career-tech Workforce Development Program and has enrolled in the next course of the same career-tech program

  11. Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) • A measure used in continuing education programs

  12. Course of Study (COS) • Official school district document defining key components of a programs curriculum and instruction based on the appropriate content standards

  13. CTE 26 • Application for approval of career-technical education programs

  14. CTE Report Card • Mechanism to measure and rate the performance of career-technical planning districts

  15. DECA • Serves students in Marketing programs

  16. Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) • Serves students in family and consumer sciences

  17. FFA • Serves students in the Agricultural and Environmental Systems

  18. Future Educators Association (FEA) • Serves students in Education career fields

  19. High Schools That Work (HSTW) • School-wide improvement frame-work based on key practices and conditions for accelerating learning and raising academic standards for all students

  20. HOSA • Serves students in health occupations

  21. Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) • Non-evaluative improvement process that includes self-assessment of competences, prioritization of goals, development and implementation of a plan with activities, and assessment of accomplishments for each career-technical instructor

  22. Individualized Education Program (IEP) • Statement that discusses the child’s future and a statement of measurable annual goals, including academic and functional goals and benchmarks or short-term objectives

  23. Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) • Process to provide educators with a detailed view of performance, with a focus on specific strengths and opportunities for improvement

  24. Program of Study (POS) • Provides a tighter alignment between secondary career tech and post secondary content and the development of pathways that encourage college and the increase of statewide post secondary options for career technical students

  25. Project Based Learning (PBL) • An instructional strategy in which students work cooperatively over time to create a product, preservation, or performance

  26. SkillsUSA • Serves students enrolled in trade, industrial, technical and health careers programs. Partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce

  27. Student Learning Objective (SLO) • A measurable, long term academic growth target that a teacher sets at the beginning of the year for all students or for subgroups of students
