The Valenzuela Settlement, established in January 2008, has transformed the CAHSEE intervention landscape for students in California. Funding is provided for intensive instruction and supportive services for grades 11-12 and beyond, ensuring that students who struggle with the CAHSEE have access to resources and options. Key provisions include extensive notification requirements for students, compliance documentation, and ongoing support post-graduation. Districts must offer individualized programs designed to assist students in improving their skills in English Language Arts and Math, particularly for underprivileged students.
