Key Points • TQ funds are divided into 3 areas: • Agency (District) 30% • Region/Discipline/Program (Building) 65% • Individual 5% • TQ funds are accessed by submitting Professional Development Proposal that must be in alignment with the Learning & Leadership Action Plan for the Agency or the Learning & Leadership Action Plan for Regions/Disciplines.

Key Points (cont’d) • PD Proposal includes all components of the TQ legislation. • Based on student data and student learning goals • Iowa Teacher Standards • Needs of AEA staff • Agency PD Plan • IPDM (not a Phase III project) • The PD must be for AEA staff . • It may include LEA staff but primary audience is AEA. • The PD Proposal is reviewed by the Agency Learning Subcommittee to determine if the proposal is approved, needs revision, or is denied.

  4. Next Steps • Fall 2008, the AL Subcommittee will provide a work session on writing a PD Proposal for RAs, Integrated Region Teams, and other interested people.

  7. Step 1: Form a Leadership Team (from Integrated Region Team)

Step 2: Develop the Learning and Leadership Action Plan • Analyzing the data using the 4 questions • Determining the goal areas • An emphasis for the leadership team will be the PD for the region/discipline • Determining the Evidence of Success and Evaluation Process for the PD • Monitoring implementation and adjusting PD

  9. Step 2 (Cont’d) • The leadership team’s role is to assist in designing, implementing and evaluating the PD throughout the year.

Step 2 (Cont’d) • 32 hours have been approved through TQ funds. • Use this PD Proposal as a roadmap to develop your action plan. • Hours are flexible, depending on leadership team makeup. • If you need additional funds to support this work, you may write a more specific proposal to submit to the Agency Learning Sub Committee.
