Different Types of Planning Information STANDARDS & REGULATIONS MSIP PD Standards Operating characteristics or performance that must exist or ways to conduct operational activities (instructional and administrative practice) that must be followed. 6.1 2 Teachers receive training on the curriculum review and revision process, curriculum alignment, and classroom assessment strategies. 6.2 2 Teachers use current assessment information to plan instruction and have received specific training on this process. 6.4 3 Training in the use of instructional equipment and technology is provided. 6.7 Professional development is an integral part of the educational program and all school improvement initiatives. 6.7 1 The district has a written plan for professional development that included the following components: 6.7 2 The district provides intensive, on-going professional development activities that address curriculum and the instructional practices related to student achievement issues identified in the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP). 6.7 3 For all staff members, professional development is an integral part of their job responsibilities and expectations. 6.7 4 The district has identified a set of instructional strategies designed to meet the assessed needs of students, and has made a long-term commitment to focus its professional development activities on implementation and reinforcing these strategies. 6.7 5 The district collects and utilizes information regarding the effectiveness of its professional development program in improving instruction and student achievement. 6.7 6 The district provides substantial time and resources for the professional development of all staff members.

Different Types of Planning Information STANDARDS & REGULATIONS Alignment to NSDC Standards MSIP High-Quality Professional Development Part I: High-quality professional development: • actively engages teachers in planning, skills, and information over time, (Standard 2) • is directly linked to improved student learning so that all children may meet the Show-Me Standards at the proficient level, (Standards 8, 10) • is directly linked to district and building school improvement plans, (Standard 1) • is developed with extensive participation of teachers, parents, principals, and other administrators, [Parent participation may be at the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) level] (Standards 1, 2, 9, 12) • provides time and other resources for learning, practice, and follow-up, (Standards 3, 7) • is supported by district and building leadership, (Standard 2) • provides teachers with the opportunity to give the district feedback on the effectiveness of participation in this professional development activity, (Standard 5) Part II: Some types of activities that might be considered high-quality professional development if they meet the above requirements are: • study groups, (Standard 1) • grade-level collaboration and work, (Standards 1, 9) • content-area collaboration and work, (Standards 1, 9) • specialization-area collaboration and work, (Standards 1, 9) • action research and sharing of findings, (Standards 4, 6) • modeling, (Standards 8, 9) • peer coaching, (Standards 8, 9) • vertical teaming, (Standards 1, 9)

All US school districts will continuously improve on a yearly basis relative to student achievement as determined by each state’s choice of assessment. AYP % for Comm Arts for all Missouri districts will be 61.2% by 2010 All teachers in Jackson R-II District will prepare and maintain a PD plan according to DESE standards by 2006-2007 school year Brown Elementary will increase average annual attendance rate to 97% by Jun 2009 Tim Michaelson will become proficient in using advance (proven) instructional strategies.
